Information we collect

• Waitlist email: If you previously joined the beta waitlist, we collected the email address you submitted.
• Account and app data: If you use the mobile app, we process account identifiers and the profile, nutrition, food log, recipe, barcode, and goal information you choose to provide.
• Apple Health data: If you connect Apple Health in the mobile app, we read your weight, step count, exercise minutes, and active and resting energy burned from the Health app. This is read-only, happens only after you grant access in the iOS Health permission prompt, and is stored in your account.
• CraveBuddy and recipe import: If you use CraveBuddy (in the app, with Siri, or on Apple Watch) or import a recipe from a link, we process the messages and photos you send and the text of the recipe page, video caption, or video description you import. We keep your recent CraveBuddy messages with your account so a conversation can continue. Photos are deleted from our storage after CraveBuddy reads them.
• Subscription status: We process purchase and entitlement status from the applicable app store. We do not receive your full payment card details.
• Device and usage information: We may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, app interactions, diagnostics, and crash information to operate, secure, measure, and improve the app.

How we use information

• To maintain historical beta waitlist records and related communications.
• To protect the site and backend from spam, fraud, and abuse.
• To operate, maintain, and improve CraveSmart.
• To fill in your profile and estimate the calories you burn from Apple Health data.
• To provide and measure advertising for eligible non-subscribers.
• To verify purchases and provide subscription benefits.
• To provide CraveBuddy and recipe import, including the food entries and recipe drafts you ask for.

Advertising, analytics, and consent

The mobile app uses Google AdMob to serve and measure advertising for eligible non-subscribers. Depending on your region, consent choices, and device settings, Google may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, and ad interactions to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud. Where required, the app requests consent before enabling applicable advertising or analytics processing. Subscribers are not intentionally shown these ads.

This website does not use advertising cookies. We may use analytics to understand site and app usage; analytics providers may process basic device, diagnostic, and usage information subject to your available consent choices.

Health data

Health data read from Apple Health is used only to fill in your profile and estimate the calories you burn. We never use it for advertising or marketing, never share it with Google AdMob or any other advertising network, and never sell it. It is stored with your account on Firebase and is deleted when you delete your account.

AI features and AI providers

When you use CraveBuddy or recipe import, we send what you submit (your messages, photos, and imported recipe text) to our AI provider, OpenAI or Anthropic, together with the saved recipe and food details needed to answer, so its models can write the reply, food entry, or recipe draft. The provider processes this data as our service provider under its API terms. Nothing is sent to an AI provider unless you use these features, and the app asks your permission before the first time. Apple Health data is never sent to an AI provider. Your CraveBuddy history is deleted when you delete your account.

Sharing and third parties

We use service providers to run CraveSmart, including Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, hosting, storage, databases, notifications, analytics, and diagnostics; OpenAI or Anthropic for CraveBuddy and recipe import; Google AdMob for mobile advertising; and Apple or Google for app distribution and subscription processing. These providers may process data on our behalf or under their own terms to provide their services.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security and legal records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Account-linked app data is deleted or de-identified when no longer needed, subject to backup, fraud-prevention, and legal retention requirements.

Your choices

You can use available device and in-app controls to manage advertising consent and tracking choices. You can stop Apple Health access at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, then Health. You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@cravesmart.app.
